History

The true history of the Freehold is not widely known. But what is known is that Drachenburg was found by a band of lost whom had just escaped their captors back in the early 1620's. These lost joined together to increase their odds of survival. However, while lost in the thorns these they roamed aimlessly searching for a place they could call their own until they found it. A castle though old and worn stood in front of them. The castle had clearly seen it's share of battle and it's share of history. The band entered the castle's walls and to them, they had found the single greatest treasure in all the world and maybe they were right. This band of lost soon began to do what they could to make improvements on the castle in an effort to restore it to it's once great glory it took them many years, and over these years more and more lost seemed to gather. It wasn't long before Drachenburg Sammeln had it's first court system. Queen Isabel Chambers of the Antler Crown, King Gregory Adler of the Iron Spear, Queen Kerstin Scholz of the Laden Mirror, King Leonhart Vogler of the Silent Arrow, Queen Valda Rothschild of the Bloody Rose, King Sigmund Scholz of the Glacial Axe, and lastly Jordon Aldman Arbiter of the Courtless. These seven Kings, Queens, and the Arbiter ruled over Drachenburg Sammeln for many many years with little to no difficulty. That is until the first and last time the Vault was opened.

That day is forever etched into the history of Drachenburg Sammeln as it became known as the day of the Bloody Thrones. May 1st 1631 at exactly 6:31pm, the entire freehold gathered in front of the Vault of Legends because Arbiter Aldman discovered the way to open the Vault and perhaps this is why dedicated a line of succession to help prevent the Vault from ever being opened again. Each of the Kings and Queens provided what was required of them to open the vault, what that was has been sealed by the Aldman Collective from ever being known to anyone outside their group and the current Sovereigns. When the vault was opened at first the entire freehold was in complete awe of the treasures that were left in their possession. But then the very foundation of the freehold shook and a terrible roar was heard throughout the entirety of the freehold. It sounded as if it came from everywhere, frantically Drachenburg Sammeln's inhabitants looked around trying to find the source of this frightening sound. There were cries of horror from outside they lost whom had been watching the entrance to the freehold reported having seen some sort of phantasmal dragon flying around in the skies. But when the sovereigns came out to look there was nothing. Foolishly, four of the six kings and queens dismissed the reports from the gatesmen. Queen Valda and Queen Kerstin however, believed their subjects and as a result fortified their defenses in their respective courts that night much more significantly than the other four courts. Perhaps it was because the two believed something terrible had been awakened that night that they were spared.

The following morning there were cries of terror as the other four sovereigns who failed to truly listen to the words of their subjects were found viciously torn to shreds in their chambers. As if some massive creature had some how gotten inside and ate them alive. As a result it was a unanimous decision by the remaining sovereigns and the Arbiter to seal the vault once more and to swear to never let them be opened again. After the vault was sealed the random ghostly roars seemed to fade into nothing, as if they had never even been there to start with. But four dead sovereigns says otherwise. To this day, May 1st holds a special significance to the lost of Drachenburg Sammeln and they always have a memorial for the deceased. To this very day it is believe that the dragon spotted that night was Fafnir's spirit returning for Gram and all those who lived within this freehold. Though this theory has never been proven no one has had the courage to open the vault once more to find out. Many of the lost would much prefer to never talk about what happened that night, so most never do they just take that one day a year to reflect and remember what can happen if you open something before you know what it keeps out....or what it keeps in?

But most recently, we just finished a war with The Collector's loyalists. It brings me great sadness to admit that war was almost lost. Had it not been for 'The White Queen' we would've lost our freehold to the loyalists. Never have I seen loyalists so intent on taking our freehold before. We've had the occasional fight with them every now and again, stopping them from taking new escapees from the thorns but never have we had an all out war with them. For months Queen Nadja had been telling us that we needed to fortify our boarders to prevent anyone from coming for us or the Vault. She had mentioned that some of her courtiers had discovered that there had been a massing of loyalists across the Rhine. She took it upon herself to take some of our forces to plead aid from one of our neighbors. She was gone a full week and still we had heard nothing from her, we all feared the worst and it was about a day later that we saw the massing of people she had warned us about. Thus we scrambled our forces to intercept them. We held them off by ourselves for two weeks, by this time Queen Nadja had been gone for about three weeks.

Some of the others started to suspect she was a loyalist herself. King Ritter quashed those accusations swiftly, defending his wife's honor with everything he had. Which only made some of the other freeholders believe he was in league with her. Unrest began to settle in among our forces but still they fought and they held the line. But time continued to pass our lines slowly diminished and then The Collector himself made an appearance on the battle field. And he did what all gentry do, he goaded us and told us we didn't stand a chance all that shit, but the thing is our moral was already weakened and some of the freeholders started to believe him but it was then that there was a high pitched chirping noise and a white arrow sailed through The Collector's left shoulder. Just on the horizon atop a white horse and holding onto a white glowing bow, was Queen Nadja and behind her the forces she took to plead to our neighbors and an army. The Collector and his army were now surrounded thanks to The White Queen. Now Gentry may be many things but foolish isn't one of them, the Collector knew he wouldn't win even with his loyalists with him. He sneered at us telling us that he would return then vanished just as quickly as he appeared. We drove his army from our lands and now...we wait, we wait for his return when we will truly put a stop to him and end his twisted desire to open our vault.

Courts

Changeling2.png All the courts do their best to work cooperatively with each other for the greater good of the Freehold. There is no open hostilities between any of the courts, however some are closer to each other than others. The following courts have strong ties to one another Dawn and Dusk, Spring and Summer, and Autumn and Winter. Because of this earning 'Goodwill' with 'partner courts' is -slightly- easier. There is no 'Experience Reduction' justification is just less difficult.

Spring-court.png The purpose of the Antler Crown in the Drachenburg Sammeln Freehold is to get a firm hold on the mortal side of things in case the freehold ever needs it. Queen Zenzi feels that the Court of Desires is best suited for this type of work due to the types of contracts her court has at it's fingertips. For this reason she encourages her courtiers to try and get some type of connections in mortal society. The type of connection is left up to the discretion of the individual courtier. There are a few titles that accomplished members of the Antler Crown may earn. Those titles can be found here.

Summer-court.png The Iron Spear's purpose in the freehold is the same as it is in virtually any freehold, they are the freehold's primary defense. All summer courtiers are moderately skilled in some form of combat whether it be hand to hand, melee weapons, or firearms. Most summer couriers have at least 3 dots in a combat skill. There are a few titles that accomplished members of the Iron Spear may earn. Those titles can be found here.

Autumn-court.png The purpose of the Leaden Mirror is 'simply' to be prepared for whatever the world might decide to throw at the Freehold. Most of the time this means knowing what types of dangers could threaten the freehold and how to deal with them. Which means knowing the fears or weaknesses of whatever might decide to come after the Freehold. This purpose was pushed upon the Leaden Mirror after the day of the Bloody Thrones by Queen Kerstin Scholz herself. There are a few titles that accomplished members of the Leaden Mirror may earn. Those titles can be found here.

Winter-court.png The purpose of the Silent Arrow is primarily scouting the hedge and gathering intelligence for the freehold and occasionally just for Queen Juliet herself. The Queen also asks that her courtiers keep tabs on the members of other courts and be on the lookout for any suspicious behavior. There are a few titles that accomplished members of the Silent Arrow may earn. Those titles can be found here.

Court Dawn.png The Bloody Rose's purpose is incite change and bring hope to an otherwise dark world. This is mostly left up to the individual courtier but Queen Nadja herself, seems to prefer helping to change places where children are being mistreated and improve their situations. There are a few titles that accomplished members of the Bloody Rose may earn. Those titles can be found here.

Court Dusk.png The Glacial Axe's purpose in the Drachenburg Sammeln Freehold is and always will be to endure. It might sound simple but as a lost enduring can often be a difficult task to accomplish. There are a few titles that accomplished members of the Glacial Axe may earn. Those titles can be found here.

Courtless.png The Aldman Collective is a small group which is never larger than 12 Lost. These lost follow the leadership of the current Aldman. Their duties mostly consider keeping track of the history of the freehold and documenting next to everything that occurs with in it's walls. Usually the Aldman Collective is made up of people who have some desire to maybe one day become the next 'Jordon Aldman'. Other times they are simply seekers of knowledge and lovers of history.
